Best Easter Egg Hunts in Kent

My children absolutely love visiting Chartwell even when it isnt hosting a chocolate filled Easter event, so imagine their delight when I told them about this years Cadbury Easter Hunt!

Chartwell really have ensured there’s is plenty to please everyone at this Easter event so book early to avoid disappointment!

Winston Churchill’s interest in nature began at a very early age and continued throughout his life, often writing about the nature around him whilst as both solider and journalist. Here at Chartwell, his family home, that love of nature is clear wherever you look from the gardens and wider estate, to the wide range of wildlife to be found.
This Easter search high and low, near and far across the gardens and woodland to earn your Cadbury prize. Discover all about the mammals, insects and pondlife that live at Chartwell, whilst learning some fun new skills along the way. Make sure to pick up a chocolate prize at the end!

The Vegetable Hunt
Head out along the paved paths of our Walled Garden on a vegetable hunt. Find the boxes placed all around the working garden to discover examples of the vegetables we still grow here today. Write down what you find in your leaflet and head back to claim your prize.
This route is fully buggy accessible and recommended for children 2-5 years old.

The Leaf Hunt
Go on a giant leaf hunt throughout the gardens all around the house at Chartwell this spring and see if you can unscramble the letters to find out what type of leaf they are. Did you know butterflies use leaves to lay their eggs on each spring? See if you can spot any real butterflies fluttering around the flowers as you go.
This route is all on firm pathways but there are steps along the way. Recommended for children 6+.
Nature activities
For anyone wanting a bit more of a challenge, we have a whole ton of activities for you to try your hand at all around the gardens and heading up into the wider estate as well. Follow in the footsteps of Winston Churchill himself who as a young boy would spend hours exploring the countryside searching for wildlife.
Look for minibeasts all around you, navigate your way with a map and compass, build a den in the woodland or go bird watching, plus many more, get creative and stuck into nature this Easter, we’ve a whole range of activities for you to try out.
Be prepared for an adventure throughout the grounds and don’t forget your wellies for the woodland as it can get muddy up there. The paths up in the woodland can be steep in places and may not be suitable for buggies. Recommended for children 7+
