Our experience at Green Planet Dubai
Having read endless reviews, raving about Green Planet Dubai, when we found ourselves with a quiet afternoon I thought it would be the ideal place to go.
We booked our tickets online and were rewarded with a decent discount. The Green Planet Dubai is very easy to find and provides plenty of parking for visitors.
The Green Planet is a vibe from the moment you arrive, as you are greeted by giant interactive bugs and creatures, oh, and a Starbucks coffee shop which pleased my daughter no end. Before entering the dome shaped rainforest we decide to grab a bite to eat at the Green Planet Café. The service was outstanding, super friendly and we enjoyed a fresh salad and pizza.
Almost as soon as we stepped foot inside the dome a super enthusiastic and friendly staff member ushered us over to where Liam the sloth was hanging out ( literally). It was extraordinary, being so close to this adorable creature, who eyed our excitement to meet him with a lazy gaze. The staff member told us all about Liam, and happily answered our questions.
While we were meeting Liam, we were being scrutinized by the most gorgeous, curious toucan, who followed us as we made our way from the top floor to the basement. With every step we were greeted by more stunning animals.
The Green Planet Dubai is any animal lovers dream. The creatures are all beautifully kept, have masses of freedom and are clearly healthy and happy. As we made our way through the rainforest we were encouraged to meet and greet various creatures including snakes and insects. The birds fly freely around us, and the lemurs, sloths and flying foxes all move around at liberty.
All about Green Planet Dubai
Green Planet is quite literally an oasis in the desert. The designers have successfully recreated a South American Amazon rainforest ecosystem. This expansive glass biodome covers an area of about 60,000 square feet and is home to more than 3000 creature’s and tropical fauna.
Cleverly designed down to the tiniest details, visitors get to observe absolute real-life rainforest features. The centre of the dome proudly displays a 25m high artificial Kapok style tree which is made up of huge branches and vines. I believe it is the largest of its kind in the world and acts as a life-sustaining tree, sheltering many exotic plants, animal, and bird species. An atmospheric waterfall adjacent to the tree adds to the charm, as well as filling the air with a refreshing, cool mist.
Visitors can explore each level of the rainforest with ease, using either the spiralling walkway which weaves around the giant tree, around the tree or by using the elevators.
As our visit ended we collected our professional photos that had been snapped at various points around the attraction and then headed to the well stocked gift shop where we purchased some lovely keep sakes to remind us of our day.
We can’t recommend Green Planet Dubai highly enough – as superb day out for all!
