We visited Stoupa, with friends who have a villa there, during April. The nearest airport is Kalamata, which is approx. 1 hours drive away. The climate was super, although not tropical, the temperatures reached a very civilised 19-22 degrees each day. As the season progresses it becomes significantly warmer. The villa is walking distance to the little town of Stoupa, which has everything a family needs including super restaurants, bars, shops and a wonderful clean sand and stone beach. We were there out of season and so had the advantage of lovely weather and no crowds, although I don’t think Stoupa is ever over crowded. It’s something of a hidden gem.
Each morning we would take a stroll down the long winding hill from the villa to Stoupa town, and the bakery where we collected fresh breads and pastries. The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning bakery jaunts where they could practice their Greek with the shop assistants, see the bakery’s resident kittens and get a lollipop for their efforts!
