This terrific county has so many wonderful Easter activities going on this year.  Remember, many of these fabulous events sell out very quickly so get booking early to avoid disappointment. So, here we have the best Easter Egg hunts in Essex 2020 (not strictly all hunts, but Easter events none the less!)

At the Essex Wildlife Trust, you can not only enjoy fun Easter activities, but it’s all in a good cause too! Helping the charity protect and preserve wildlife and nature.  Easter egg hunt and trail, pond dipping and Easter crafts. Allocated time slots for craft activity, other activities can be done at any time during the event.

Easter at Audley End Miniature Railway

Audley End Miniature Railway claim to have their very own Easter Bunny, welcoming visitors at his Spring Home in the woods! Take a train ride into the woods to visit the Easter Bunny, where you will receive a special treat and meet the Easter Bunny’s other furry friends. Throughout the train ride, you can test your I spy skills and look out for various things along the route.  You can also try to spot all of the Fairies, Elves, Animals, Nests and Eggs throughout our Fairy and Elf Walk and Easter Trail starting in the Picnic Area. Colchester Zoo – Easter Holidays Essex

Enjoy a terrific  family day out at Colchester Zoo this Easter!  Throughout the holidays learn more about the animals at Colchester Zoo and see them up close by watching an array of encounters, PLUS you can also feed some of our gentle giants at FREE public feeding sessions with our elephants and giraffe!  As you walk around the zoo there are also plenty of play areas to try out, including the indoor soft play area, Jungle Tumble, so the kids can release some of their seemingly unrelenting energy, while you grab a much appreciated coffee.

During your visit you can also follow the Easter Egg Trail around the zoo – embark on a hunt for the giant Easter eggs! Each egg has a letter, locate all the letters and rearrange them into the Easter themed word to achieve your Easter Egg Trail sticker.  Throughout the Easter Holidays you can also join in with some of our Easter themed craft activities. Get down to Mountfitchet Castle this Easter for The Lost Knight’s Crusade! What an adventure!  Gallant adventurers of all ages are invited to join in the fun. You need to Follow the clues to help find the lost Knight’s of Mountfitchet Castle who mysteriously disappeared on the trail of the legend of the Golden Egg! The website states that there is no need to book and that normal admission prices apply, although this is always worth checking. How refreshing, a family Easter adventure that isn’t solely about fluffy bunnies!

 

Royal Gunpowder Mills Easter in Essex

Ok, so if you really have had your fill of hunting for colourful eggs and making Easter baskets, then get yourselves down to The Royal Gunpowder Mills. They have planned some fantastically inspiring and educational Easter Holiday activities.  Combine Natural Science and Trips to Space this Easter!  From Saturday 4th to Saturday 11th April  it is SPACE EXPLORER time!  You will make your own rocket to take home, create your own take-home moon dough, test which materials make the best space-suit insulation, make your own Solar System Crown and finally prepare to be amazed by Professor Nitrate’s explosive science show. 

Fr0m Sunday 12th to Sunday 19th April it is the EASTER EXPLORER take over!  Bring your bravest teddy to try out our Teddy Zip Wire, learn how colour can be brought out of flowers in your very own take-home art activity, enjoy Easter themed arts and crafts, and see the amazing science shows.  I mean wow! Attention all Peter Rabbit fans! Its family fun galore at Willows Activity Farm during Easter Eggstravaganza. They have a packed programme with  egg hunt, Easter arts and crafts, a brand new Peter Rabbit and Friends shows, Tristan the Runaway Tractor and lots more.

The Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground is full of imaginative play including the Lily Bobtail Nature Discovery area, the kitchen and laundry of Mrs Tiggy-winkle and the state of the art Great Invention sensory game, created by Mr. Bouncer. Musical fans will enjoy the Jeremy Fisher Music Pond and the Peter Rabbit Secret Treehouse is the perfect place to look out for Mr McGregor and Old Brown! Peter Rabbit and his friends feature at Willows every day with a range of shows and meet and greets featuring the characters. The shows run on our outdoor stage or in our Peter Rabbit Theatre when the weather isn’t great.
