Calling all adventure junkies: summer is on its way which means it’s time to pack up your snowboarding gear and pick out a new extreme activity for the coming season.

Over the summer, water sports are how you’re going to want to be spending your time. Whether you’re already well-versed in your sport of choice and looking for something new, or haven’t tried your hand at any water sports yet, here are the six most exciting adventures to schedule into your 2022 summer vacation.

Wakeboarding

If you’re a lover of a good old adrenaline rush, wakeboarding should be first on your list. This is a fast-paced fun and exciting sport with plenty of opportunities to bail into the water and get soaked. If you decide to start, you’ll need a wakeboarding lifejacket and a few other pieces of gear, but some places will provide this for you if you’re not ready to invest.

Surfing

There’s a lot you’ll need to consider if you’re new to surfing, but even so, the sport is worth taking up. You can take surfing lessons just about anywhere in the world, and there are so many coastal destinations that are renowned for their surf.

Get ready to wipe out but have the time of your life if you decide to take up surfing this summer.

Parasailing

Some may not consider parasailing to be a water sport since you spend most of your time gliding through the air, but we thought it was a good option to put on the list.

You’ll be pulled along behind a boat with a giant parachute, allowing the wind and momentum to let you float and flow through the air – almost like you’re flying. If you’re looking for something a little different, this is a great one to try.

Snorkelling

To experience something out of this world, snorkelling is one of your best bets. Catch a glimpse of another world, but without the hassle and major expense associated with scuba diving.

Snorkelling requires no certification and you can rent equipment from any facility that offers snorkelling trips. Look out for beginner’s snorkelling spots for your first try, and you’ll be introduced to sea life up close and personal.

Canoeing

If you’re looking to do a little more hard work this summer, canoeing will be a good option for you. These boats take some serious upper body and core strength to manoeuvre properly and rushing downstream can give you a serious adrenaline rush.

Not only is this a great workout, but if you really enjoy yourself you can take up competitive canoeing to prove your worth.

Shark Cage Diving

Finally, the horror film of water sports – shark cage diving. This experience is certainly not for the faint of heart.

From the safe confines of a cage, you’ll be lowered into shark-infested waters and be able to get face to face with some seriously dangerous creatures. Don’t worry, they bite, but they won’t be able to.
