Villa Serendipity and Stoupa

We were invited by some very good friends to spend Easter with them at their Greek Villa. Villa Serendipity can be found in Stoupa in the Peloponnese area of Greece. It’s a beautiful villa that sleeps up to eight people.

The nearest airport is Kalamata, which is approx. 1 hours drive away. The climate was super, although not tropical, the temperatures reached a very civilised 19-22 degrees each day. The villa is walking distance to the little town of Stoupa, which has everything a family needs including super restaurants, bars, shops and a wonderful clean sand and stone beach. We were there out of season and so had the advantage of lovely weather and no crowds, although I don’t think Stoupa is ever over crowded. It’s something of a hidden gem.

Each morning we would take a stroll down the long winding hill from the villa to Stoupa, to the bakery where we collected fresh breads and pastries. The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning bakery jaunts where they could practice their Greek with the shop assistants, see the bakery’s resident kittens and get a lollipop for their efforts!  Like most of Greece there are lots of cats everywhere which the children absolutely loved!

Greece has such a wealth of history and culture to be explored and whilst we didn’t want to be journeying in the car for hours we were keen to experience some of what Greece has to offer. The villa provided a book detailing all the attractions and adventures within reasonable driving distance.

Having studied the options we planned two days out that we hoped would be suitable, fun and educational for the four children, aged between 4 and 9.

Athens is just a three and a half hour drive away and a perfect place to spend a couple of nights with the kids.
